TELLING YOUR BRAND'S COLOR STORY
The colors of your brand should tell a unique story about who you are and who you're trying to reach.
Here
at Right Angle, our designers have created their own culture of color –
using their individual aesthetics to make beautiful strategic palettes
for our clients. We believe that, when creating an identity, color is
just as important as concept and composition. Color is one of the most
important facets of your brand and the most easily recalled by
consumers. According to the Institute for Color Research, “people make a
subconscious judgment about a person, environment, or product within 90
seconds of initial viewing and between 62 percent and 90 percent of
that assessment is based on color alone.
”
Think
of it from a primal standpoint: colors arouse our instincts. And as
authors of color stories, we know that they influence what we gravitate
toward – people, places, and even products.

WELL, THAT'S A PLUS
If
you’ve eaten at Pat’s Downtown or found yourself wandering East Main
Street during Festival International, you’ve already noticed a
contemporary building, framed by illuminated, lime-colored exterior
walls. This is the home of Abell + Crozier + Davis Architects (ACDA) – a
group that specializes in commercial architecture with a focus on
educational, liturgical, and healthcare design.
Formerly
known as Abell + Crozier Architects, the firm recently evolved into
ACDA with the addition of partner, Gregory Davis, and plans to expand
into Texas with a San Antonio office. The name change and new venture
required a complete rebranding of the firm.
For
architects who appreciate the power of designing with space, we thought
it was important to approach their logo design as they would a project
of their own. It was an opportunity to visually speak their language.
Using
a sophisticated, minimalist style and a bold, updated color palette,
we created a mark that speaks volumes, but still manages to say
something different. Best of all, we found a way to underscore an element of their previous logo – the plus sign – by turning the negative space of their logo into a literal positive.

Right
Angle was recently honored with three Summit International Awards,
including one for our logo redesign for Lafayette Consolidated
Government. We also received awards for our vehicle graphics created
for the Lafayette Transit System’s compressed natural gas buses and a
logo created for Hydro-Blade Waterjets, an industrial cutting service.
Right Angle’s award-winning designs were selected over thousands of
submissions from 22 countries by judges from Italy, China, and
Australia, among others. How’s that for worldwide attention?
BREAKER, BREAKER...
Donning
trucker hats with our own CB “handles” emblazoned across the front, the
Right Angle gang hitched up and hit the open road for our inaugural
Texas Summer Convoy.
The
weekend odyssey was loaded with client research and creative
inspiration by way of art galleries, museums, and shameless grubbing of
local cuisine. And even though we might have contemplated a jewel heist
in the Houston Museum of Natural Science and worn down the batteries on
our walkie-talkies, we came back with a truckload of ideas. 10-4, good
buddy!
